vivo has donated an interactive smartboard to Olcott Maha Vidyalaya, Galle.

vivo, a leading global technology brand, has rolled out the community benefit initiative #vivocares in Sri Lanka to provide equal learning opportunities amidst this ongoing pandemic. Under the initiative, vivo offered to allocate a latest interactive smartboard to the first beneficiary ‘Olcott Maha Vidyalaya’ in Galle, to make the learning modules interactive and improve the learning capabilities of 1200 students.

Speaking at the announcement of the #vivocares initiative, Alison Jin, Director of vivo Sri Lanka said, “As a global and socially responsible brand, vivo believes in supporting the local communities and empowering them by virtue of technology. We are happy to make this wholehearted contribution to society. School children being the future of any nation, it is important to retain their interest and participation in the school curriculum. This is a small step towards digital literacy and inclusion, aiming to curb the problems of poor attendance and drop-out rates.”

On the occasion of this initiative, Lalith Mayakaduwa, Principal, Olcott Maha Vidyalaya, Galle said, ‘’We are extremely grateful to team vivo for contributing this smartboard with the aim of upgrading our school’s facilities. It will certainly make learning more interactive and fun – helping the children stay excited and engaged especially during these uncertain times. vivo’s initiative will help the young minds to enhance their cognitive capabilities and further improve the quality of education in the rural schools.”

vivo has started this initiative to improve the quality of education in remote rural schools and enable them easy access to learning resources and material through technology integration. These branded smartboards feature a 4K Ultra High Definition resolution and are equipped with various smart features including USB, Wi-Fi, Screensharing, and Touch Assist features among many others. Such smartboards are also low-maintenance and cause no harm to the environment. They help boost students’ attention and keenness to attend classes which further leads to better comprehension and reception of classroom teachings. The highly interactive smartboards can significantly improve the learning and comprehension capabilities of students.
