Hayleys PLC Chairman and Chief Executive Mohan Pandithage has been named ‘Businessman of the Year 2025’  by LMD Magazine, following a year in which the group continued to hold its position as Sri Lanka’s leading listed company for the second consecutive year and for the tenth time overall.

The recognition caps a period of sustained performance for one of the country’s most diversified conglomerates, which operates across 16 sectors and more than 80 international markets. Hayleys’ consistency at the top of LMD’s rankings underscores its enduring role in Sri Lanka’s export economy and corporate landscape.

Pandithage’s association with Hayleys dates back to 1969, when he joined as a management trainee. He was appointed to the board in 1998 and became Chief Executive in 2009. Over the years, he has guided the group through multiple cycles of economic change, maintaining stability and growth across its varied portfolio. A veteran of the logistics and transport industry, Pandithage is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and serves on the Advisory Council of the Ceylon Association of Shipping Agents and the Council of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon.

His professional achievements have been recognised through several awards, including the Pinnacle Lifetime Award from CILT and induction into the Sri Lanka Aviation Hall of Fame. He also serves as the Honorary Consul of Mexico to Sri Lanka.

The ‘Businessman of the Year’ award is LMD’s annual recognition of leadership excellence within Sri Lanka’s corporate sector.
